Thank you to the generous donors of our Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Initiative who partnered with us to provide Area 10 Agency on Aging and Rural Transit with a wheelchair-accessible shuttle so they can meet medical transportation needs in our community.

Reliable access to transportation is a significant barrier for many in our community seeking access to healthcare services. Older individuals, women, minorities, and those with lower income levels are impacted most. Patients who manage chronic illness, such as cancer or kidney disease, need to attend their frequent or ongoing treatment to obtain care. When patients cannot attend these appointments, they are at increased risk of getting sicker.

This added vehicle to the Area 10/Rural Transit Fleet will enable more community members to get to their appointments so they can maintain their health.
