HOOSIERS 16+ SOON ELIGIBLE FOR COVID VACCINE, STATE CAUTIOUSLY LIFTING RESTRICTIONS
On Monday, March 22, the Indiana State Department of Health expanded eligibility to Hoosiers 40 and over, qualifying 400,000 additional Hoosiers for vaccination. Just one day later, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb announced that starting on March 31, Indiana residents ages 16 and older will qualify to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. According to reports, the federal government informed the state it will receive ample vaccine supply to vaccinate all Hoosiers by May.

He further outlined that the statewide COVID-19 restrictions will begin to loosen starting April 6. Masks will be advised as opposed to mandatory and gathering restrictions will be lifted; however, local governments and businesses can still impose limits if they deem appropriate. (Note: if Monroe County or City of Bloomington officials choose to extend restrictions, we will repost that information on our social media platforms as soon as they are available. Indiana State Health Commissioner Dr. Kristina Box urged Hoosiers to continue practicing COVID precautions saying, “Whether it’s called a mask mandate, or it’s called a mask advisory, we have made it very clear. Wearing our masks to prevent the spread of this virus to other individuals and prevent ourselves from becoming infected, social distancing, washing our hands, staying home when we’re sick — those mitigation measures do not change.”

DID YOU TRAVEL FOR SPRING BREAK?
Monroe County Health Administrator Penny Caudill encourages those who traveled outside of Monroe County for spring break last week to obtain a COVID test upon their return. This recommendation is also supported by the CDC.
