While BHF has been deploying grants to provide relief for local partners on the front lines of the pandemic, many of our corporate donors are also hard at work lending a hand to those who need it most. Bill C. Brown Associates continue to be involved in programs and outreach efforts to support several of their group clients and assistance for local not-for-profit organizations, including Bloomington Health Foundation.
Boston Scientific has partnered with GetUsPPE, a volunteer organization providing healthcare workers personal protective equipment, to deliver one million face shields to facilities to more than 40 US states and territories. Around 20,000 of those units were created locally by employees who donated their time.
In addition to supplying PPE, Boston Scientific has also instituted an employee matching relief program supporting donations to Project HOPE and the International Federation of Red Cross Red Crescent Societies.
Boston Scientific also has a Global Matching Gifts Program, which allows employees to donate to approved organizations and receive a match at any time, not just during the relief campaign.
Catalent, Inc. the leading global provider of advanced delivery technologies, development, and manufacturing solutions for drugs, biologics, cell and gene therapies, and consumer health products, announced a collaboration with the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson, whereby Catalent’s Biologics business unit will accelerate the availability of manufacturing capacity and prepare for large-scale commercial manufacturing at its facility in Bloomington, Indiana of Johnson & Johnson’s lead vaccine candidate for COVID-19.
Cook has donated over 45,000 gowns to the Indiana Economic Development Corporation to distribute to businesses in need all over the state of Indiana. Cook has also donated disposable gowns to Meadowood and Cook’s MyoSite has been providing cell samples to companies that are executing research related to COVID-19.
Cook recently hosted a webinar sharing their best practices of returning to “normal” business including protective procedures for employees, reopening plans for their commercial properties, and opportunities to volunteer their skills to local businesses that need support.
“The German American banking team worked around-the-clock and was able to get SBA approval on virtually all applications submitted on behalf of their small business customers. The vast majority of the PPP loans their company submitted have been funded, which totals $318 million dollars to help small businesses in our local communities retain over 45,000 jobs through this period of disruption,” states Neil Dauby, Executive Vice President, Chief Commercial Banking Officer at German American Bank.
IU Credit Union is providing ongoing support to its membership, employees, and the community in some big and small ways. They made financial contributions of $5,000 each to Stone Belt and United Way to assist with COVID-related relief programs. They also extended relief efforts to their membership by providing loan skip payments, deferrals, waivers of various fees, and continue to serve their membership at a high volume through the call center and drive-ups and by appointment.
They have also made it possible for several employees to work from home; who, like many around the world, are learning to stay connected through video conferencing. For onsite employees, IUCU implemented a weekly bonus appreciation pay. And, just as important to some, they have relaxed our dress code for several weeks, allowing employees to wear jeans. Sometimes it’s the small things that make the biggest difference!
During these challenging times Old National Bank continues to focus on its community and clients. They are working closely with bank clients on funding so they can continue to do business. They purchased food from local restaurants to deliver to hospital workers and staff at IU Health Bloomington and Monroe County Hospital, provided a $5,000 donation to the United Way Emergency COVID-19 Relief Fund, and purchased gift cards from local restaurants to distribute to clients. In addition, Old National made donations to several organizations to use for CDVID-19 relief efforts on Giving Tuesday.
