Area 10 Agency on Aging is a private nonprofit organization serving Monroe and Owen Counties. Established in 1981, they are one of sixteen Agencies on Aging in the state of Indiana. Their mission is to serve as a leader in providing resources, solutions, and connections for seniors, persons with disabilities, and family caregivers living in Monroe and Owen counties.
Annually, Area 10 provides case management to more than 500 clients, delivers more than 67,000 nutritious meals to homes and neighborhood meal sites, answers more than 6,500 calls from those seeking health and human services, matches 450 adults with meaningful volunteer opportunities, provides 200,000 rides through Rural Transit bus service, and houses 100 seniors in three affordable apartment complexes.
To meet client needs during COVID-19, they are currently in search of volunteers to assist with delivery and their pantry. Please see descriptions and contact information for both positions below:
Volunteer Delivery Driver
Area 10 Agency on Aging’s Mobile Food Pantry delivers two sacks of groceries once a month to community members who are homebound due to age, income, or disability.
Routes average 6-10 stops organized in the same geographic area and take about an hour and a half to complete. Area 10 is currently seeking volunteers to pick up & deliver groceries in Bloomington on the 2nd Wednesday/Thursday of the month, Ellettsville on the 3rd Wednesday/Thursday of the month, and in Spencer on the 3rd Wednesday of the month between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.

Volunteer Food Pantry Assistant
Area 10 Agency on Aging’s Mobile Food Pantry delivers two sacks of groceries once a month to around 240 community members who are homebound due to age, income, or disability. They have three pantry locations where they collect food to sort and prepare for distribution.
Area 10 is currently seeking volunteer pantry assistants to help sort and organize food items at their Bloomington site (East side), Ellettsville site, and Spencer site.
