The Herald Times: Support Health Foundation (Letter to the Editor, 5.12.18)

To the editor:

In reference to Angela Parker’s op ed from April 30, “Change coming; progress is an imperative.”

As a past volunteer, donor, finance committee member and board chair, it is with confidence and trust that I will continue to support our newly named Bloomington Health Foundation.

For 50 years, its mission has been to be a partner with our hospital, people and organizations addressing the many and varied needs of Bloomington and the surrounding communities. By maintaining a board composed of local people, donor intent will be followed, dollars raised in the community will stay in our communities and provide the resources to best serve the needs of our citizens.

From the foundation, events such as Festival of Trees and Hoosiers Outrun Cancer were born. These events have provided funds to help maintain and expand the services provided by Hospice House, Hospice, Volunteers in Medicine, Olcott Center, Children’s Therapy Clinic — the list goes on. All these services have been a strategic partner in making our region a desirable place to live.

The foundation, with its outstanding staff, board and leadership will continue to partner with the organizations dedicated to the health and well-being of our community.
